	SPRING REPERTORY PROGRAM 1
	Square Dance: George Balanchine Moments: Dennis Nahat Salut d’Amour: Donald Mahler Toe-tapping, hand-clapping, finger-snapping fun; that’s Square Dance—a lickety-split hoedown. Classical ballet takes an over-the-shoulder look at its folkdance roots, complete with a live on-stage “caller.” Moments is a pure movement expression of the dazzling Piano Trio by Felix Mendelssohn, showcasing the individual talents of the Company. The joyful finale suggests a Gypsy-like charactere dance of passion and tenderness. Salut d’Amour is a celebration of friendship and affection reflecting a period of carefree youth in a world about to change forever. Three diverse offerings from three master choreographers in one brilliant program danced to a live performance by members of Symphony Silicon Valley.

	Gaîté Parisienne: Léonide Massine Jardin Aux Lilas: Antony Tudor Agon: George Balanchine A story of romance and high spirits set in a turn-of-the-century café, Gaîté Parisienne features the rousing and uninhibited cancan in a tale of the nightlife of old Paris. Jardin aux Lilas, a dramatic ballet in one act, is a tragedy of tmanners— a haunting story about a marriage of convenience set in late Victorian England. Agaon, based on a manual of 17th Century French court dances, is one of thee landmark neo-classic ballet from the pairing of Balanchine and Stravisnsky. Forced to flee their homeland during revolution, these two great Russian artists forever changed the ballet world when they transplanted their musical and dance heritage onto American Soil.
